NGK sparks a new season for BRC Challenge
Rallye Sunseeker will provide a new test for the competing crews of the 2012 MSA British Rally Championship‘s support series, the NGK Spark Plugs BRC Challenge (NGKBRCC). The well-established south coast event provided plenty of thrills last year for the BRC competitors and 2012 sees the supporting championship make its way to the Hampshire forests too.
The BRC Challenge has been the main support to the BRC for a number of years and acts as a stepping stone for those who wish to gain experience of top quality events, before making the step up to the BRC proper.
The NGKBRCC tackles all six of the championship events across the UK, providing crews with the experience of both gravel and tarmac surfaces. Couple this with its own press officer, website, television coverage via Greenlight Television and new title sponsor in the guise of NGK Spark Plugs the BRC Challenge gives competitors a truly professional feel to its surroundings.

With competitive stage mileage and no need for homologation, the NGKBRCC serves up the best value for money rally championship in the UK on a National B licence. Like the BRC, it is only open to two wheel drive cars with a maximum 2 litre engine capacity, the NGKBRCC allows for affordable rallying and extremely close competition. The Championship offers up several classes including the Stars of the Future award for any under 21 year old driver competing within classes RC1, RC2 or RC3.

The series pedigree was evident last year when 2010 Challenge winner Callum Black finished 3rd in Formula 2 (the pre-cursor to this year’s BRC format) on his BRC debut on Rallye Sunseeker. 2011 Champion Jack Rowe makes his BRC debut this weekend after narrowly losing out to Norwegian rally ace Steve Roekland in the Fiesta International Shootout held by WRC stalwarts M-Sport. Proving the quality of experience gained in the NGKBRCC and its allure to up and coming British rally talent. And with the British Rally Championship moving to an all 2WD format for 2012 and beyond, the ease of moving through the ranks towards emulating the heroes of the sport is easily within reach.
So who will the pace-setters be on Rallye Sunseeker? Who will have the nerve to hold it together throughout the season? One thing is for sure, that a new name will emerge as 2012 NGK Spark Plugs BRC Challenge Champion.
